My second time through the series and I am enjoying it more than ever. Yes, it can read as a bodice ripper, but puts most others to shame for its attention to detail. Finally I was able to visualize and understand what happened at Culloden…

As Gabaldon has said, each of her books can be summed up in one word and for Drums of Autumn, the fourth book in the Outlander series, that word is “family.” After arriving by chance in America in 1767, Jamie, Claire, and Co. travel to…

This book was recommended by a friend. The fourth in the series, Drums of Autumn kept me engaged through 881 pages. It tells the story of Claire Randall-Fraser, her husband, Jamie Fraser, and her daughter, Brianna. Other characters fleshed…

Very long and a lot of detail about family life which at times was tedious and slowed the flow of the book. That said the details enrich the reader experience and prepare for the fast paced conclusion.

I read all her previous Outlander novels and I have to say, Drums of Autumn is the one I enjoyed the least. The novel is too long and the characters are not that appealing. Nonetheless, I enjoyed Roger. I just wanted to finish this…

Thanks for your comments on the book, I'm on the wait list for it. Really enjoyed the DVD series that follows the books. Anxious to fill in the gaps with the details of reading the novel. Definitely make that trip to the Smokey Mts.!! The…

I enjoyed this novel much more than its predecessor, Voyager. I had almost given up reading the series after Voyager, but I'm glad I didn't now. I can't say much about it without giving away too many spoilers. Excellent cast of characters…

Again another good read. I find these books entertaining. Love the series and the characters. Can't wait to read The Fiery Cross.

Book 4 in the Outlander series and I loved it!!! So many scenes we have been waiting for since Jamie found out about his daughter Brianna.

Unlike comments by other readers that say there are too many tedious descriptive passages in Drums of Autumn and Voyager, I find myself hanging on nearly every word. I appreciate the narrative that pushes me from one exciting event to the…

As always, a good read, great characters. The one thing keeping me from giving it five stars is it at times seemed tedious and long. When there was something of importance going on it's engaging, when there is long, descriptive passages…

Loved book 1, was not fond of books 2 & 3, but was immersed in the lives of Jamie and Claire in book 4. Loved the scenes with Jamie/Roger/Brianna.

4th book in the series. We get to see Jamie and Claire in the American colonies.

Like the previous books in the series, this is a page turner; I finished it in three very long nights. By now I know and love all the characters. It's not a spoiler to say there were times I wanted to kick Jamie, Brianna, and Roger. …

NOT SF/F. Bodice ripper. I am really tired of having stuff like this foisted off on me as SF/F. This should be listed only under "romance novels". Even for a bodice ripper I find this series particularly brainless and unbelievable. …

Her usual style but there was so much filler that I gave up reading the book early on. The story was taking sooo looong to make any progress. The story line was too much to swallow re: its credibility.
