Read this after I'd read several Lt Dallas books in the series. Since I didn't start the series with this book, nice to go back to book 1 in series n how Lt Dallas n Roarke hooked up. There is quite a bit of intense and repeated sex in…

I re-read this, the first in the Eve Dallas “Death” murder mystery series and enjoyed reexperiencing the beginning of Eve’s relationship with her eventual husband, Roarke, best enemy, Summerset, friends and even her cat, Galahad. Having…

What can I say? Love the Eve Dallas series (this was number one in the series). I have read I don't know how many and really enjoyed them. To start at the beginning again, after all these years, just reaffirms my previous enjoyment of the…

Book was published in 1995 and is an enjoyable first read in the series for me. Being in the future avoids some of the hazards of dated tech. Plus I still enjoy a bit of an alpha male and a strong female. Many reviews so I have little to…

Since I started reading this book with #37 in the series, I thought I'd see what I missed in the earlier ones. Book #1 is set in 2058 and Eve lives alone in a barely furnished apartment that she barely uses. Her wardrobe is cheap and her…

I had way more fun with this than I thought I would. I'd heard a lot of good things about the series, but was reluctant to jump in because it's so darn long. The library had a copy available one day on audiobook, so I thought I'd see what…

I started with one of her newer books in this series and decided to go back to the beginning. This is a typical first in a series, spending time developing the characters. The future is fun, especially when you read that there were five…

I read this for the "An Author Who Uses A Pseudonym" part of my 2019 reading challenge. It was decent, the crime was well written enough that the bad guy wasn't immediately obvious, but I wouldn't say it was a surprise either. I'd be…

This is the first book in a series by Nora Roberts, writing under the pen name J.D. Robb. This murder mystery series is based on Lieutenant Eve Dallas solving homicides in 2059 New York City. These futuristic crime novels will keep you…

Lots of graphic violence. And there's a ridiculous obvious romance between the detective and one of her suspects, complete with the woman's "I don't want this but I'm so attracted" and the man's "I'm so wealthy and handsome that I'll have…

Spoiler alert: the first time you see the character Richard DeBlass, if you have any mass media experience at all you should know you have your villain. He’s a conservative republican senator running for president on a ticket of morality…

The writing is fine, and the fact that it takes place in a future with some interesting technology is fun. The crimes were appropriately gripping. But I found the relationship between Eve and Roarke (the use of his one name became…

This was recommended to me by my best friend, whose co-worker recommended the series to her. We are both book lovers and Nora Robert lovers. So I was curious to see what this book series was about. And I am addicted and cannot wait to…

This was recommended by a friend, I really enjoyed it. I have started reading the entire series, and the character development and relationships keep me reading. Sometimes they can be too dark, since Robb/Roberts does a good job developing…

I liked the book for its serious tone, the futuristic world setting, and the amount of detail given to the crime scenes and the whole investigative process. The romance though didn't make a fan out of me with the hero too perfect and our…

Indeed a fast paced thriller with all your average detective novel stuff. The time period is fun and Robb does a good job at making it believable. She can write a decent sex sceen as well, decent read i might give the 2nd book in the…

Don't read this series... listen to it! The narrator reads all of the charcters so well - accents from Scottish to futuristic New Jersey - that you can't help but become immersed in the story. And the steamy scenes aren't so bad either!

Great characterizations and the writing is fast-paced and enjoyable. J.D. Robb is pretty reliable at keeping the unneccessary elements to a minimum in her writing. If such a perfect man as Roarke ever existed in real life, millions of…
